My Unglamorous Morning Routine

🌅 Mornings are not my thing. I envy people with productive crack-of-dawn routines and those who can function without the snooze button. You’re superheroes.

Most mornings I’m woken by little baby whimpers or toddler cries. Sean is typically already on his way to work, so I trudge blearyeyed to the nursery door where I’m greeted with the biggest smile and “hat,” “birdie,” or whatever new word he’s been finessing. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I often had to force my morning smile and cheery ‘good morning,’ but after a few seconds my grumpy exterior melts in the face of toddle cuteness and our day is off to the races.

Once we get to the kitchen, I’m usually greeted by this scene 👆🏼 – a carafe of fresh coffee Sean brewed before he left for work. It’s a small act of love but it’s so nice to have one less thing to do in the morning.

And I’m thankful we’ve been able to find good coffee here. We pool together with a group of friends and get beans shipped in from a coffee company on the other side of Saudi (shoutout to @bayounicoffee – the caffeine hookup for most people we know 😆).

One day when we get in more of a routine, and I don’t have a newborn, I hope to wake up before the boys and have a few minutes of peace to myself, but for now I cherish every last second of sleep so that’s not happening. 😆 At least I can rely on Sean’s coffee generosity to make my mornings a little less chaotic. ☕️ ❤️
