Saudi introduced a two week period of reduced restrictions yesterday! We’re able to go outside between 9-5pm now so this morning we walked to the park located two blocks away from our apartment.

In the last year Saudi has invested in the city’s parks and rolled out sod, installed watering systems, planted flowers, and employed many groundskeepers to maintain the spaces. 🌷🌴

The park near us is the best I’ve seen in the city- ample green space, two big playgrounds, benches, and a few shaded spots underneath clusters of trees. In a normal month, there would be at least several dozen people out here once the sun starts setting. Groups of young boys playing soccer, little girls pedaling on their bikes, families spread out on blankets…

Ezra is just getting to the age where he’s able to climb the stairs himself and go down the slide unassisted. But his favorite is still chasing after rogue soccer balls and interrupting games with full confidence that the ball belongs to him. ⚽️ Well, it’s either that or charming cute little girls into carrying him around. 😂

The park has been a great place for me to meet other mothers, especially those who are eager to practice English, and the perimeter of the park is almost exactly a 1/4 mile so it makes a worthy running track too.

You can find us here hanging out in the grass every day for the next two weeks. 😊
