Perks of Expat Life: Frequent Travel

In our 3 years of living overseas, we’ve ticked quite a few incredible travel destinations off our bucket list, even though it feels like we’ve only scratched the surface of places we want to explore.

Flights to Europe from Saudi can be relatively cheap, there’s minimal time change to deal with, and we often reach a point where we just need to get out of the Arabian Peninsula to recharge (moderate temperatures, a glass of wine, shady metro stations, and lots of old paintings and sculptures please!). 🖼 🍷 🚇

It’s hard to believe that I was 19 before I visited another country while Ezra was in 8 different countries before he turned one! Abel clearly isn’t as well-traveled, due to covid, but his passport with the cutest little baby headshot is a blank canvas just waiting to be stamped! (If you’ve never tried to take a two week old’s passport photos…the experience is as ridiculous as you’re imagining.)

We’ve had fun picking up tips and tricks for more seamless travel with kids as we venture out. Airport lounges, Airbnb’s with a kitchen, and Rick Steves free audio tours are a few musts. The bassinet attachment on planes is👌🏼 as well.

While we wait for flights to open and travel to be safe again, I’ll reminisce about the trips we’ve been fortunate to take and dream about the ones to come. ✈️ 🌍
