Finding Color at the Yanbu Flower Festival

The past couple springs we’ve made a tradition of hopping in our car and driving 4 hours north to see…some flowers. You get desperate when you’re surrounded by cacti and palm trees, sans any bright colors, all year long. 😆

The city of Yanbu hosts an annual flower festival and, having our expectations appropriately set (low, sorry to say), we embarked on the adventure to check it out for the first time in March of 2018. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the festival and the variety of colorful flowers carpeting the park in lovely designs. 🌷🌻🌹 The whole event was a whimsical break from the typical barren and harsh environment of this area. And we hadn’t realized how much we missed the aroma of freshly cut grass and random flowers until it hit us as we walked into the festival grounds.

We didn’t get to make the trip this year, but we’re looking forward to future road trips to frolick in the flowers! 🌷
