My husband gets mistaken for an Arab all the time here. And Mexican when we go to Central America, and Turkish when we’re in Turkey. He’s even been asked if he was Chinese at a couple points, which I really think is just too far. Nevertheless, he has the unique gift of blending in to his surroundings.

At the hospital where he works, patients bypass Saudi doctors and beeline toward him to ask their questions in Arabic. And his coworkers still aren’t fully convinced of his ethnicity, “Ok, you’re American, but not pure American right?” What does that even mean?? 😂 He informs them that he is not, in fact, a Native American, if that is what they’re referring to.

His maternal grandfather immigrated to America from Greece 🇬🇷 and his father’s family has some Irish ancestry. That must be the perfect combo for a handsome, worldly visage. 😉

But when he dons the traditional Saudi outfit (only for weddings thus far), he could almost fool me. Pure American?? Are you sure?? 😂
